From the reopening of the scenic walking path along the slopes of the Palatine to the themed visits to the sites of the exhibition Roma Universalis on the Palatine Hill and Forum, from the guided tour of the House of the Vestals to the encounters with the great masters of archaeology in the Curia Iulia, and of course the open-air workshops for kids: we’re kicking off the first edition of “Settimana dei Musei” Museum Week at the Parco archeologico del Colosseo from 5 to 10 March, six days of free entry dedicated to culture, thanks to the support of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. Conferences, guest speakers, guided tours, workshops — organized by the Parco in collaboration with Electa and Coopculture — will all enrich the cultural offering of a special week: a celebration of museums and archaeological areas open to all. Visitors will be able to take part in the numerous activities that enliven the Parco archaeologico del Colosseo on a daily basis. In occasion of the event, just like on free Sundays, guests will be able to visit the “reunited” Forums, thanks to the collaboration of Rome’s Musei in Comune and the Sovrintendenza Capitolina.

The calendar of the 8 days of free admission to the Parco archeologico del Colosseo has been posted on the site  www.iovadoalmuseo.it: the first is scheduled for 9 May, the Day of remembrance for the victims of domestic and international terrorism and massacres, and Europe Day.

“A week of free entry designed not just for foreign visitors, but especially for Roman citizens: an extraordinary occasion to rediscover the archaeological heritage at the very basis of our identity”, stated the director of the Parco archeologico del Colosseo, Alfonsina Russo. “The eight days will also be enriched by a series of initiatives organized especially for the occasion and linked to current-day issues”, added the director, concluding, “we are delighted for the public to come see the park’s recently enlarged areas, the exhibitions in progress, the newly opened walking paths and the encounters with history, myth and archaeology in the renovated Curia Iulia”.
