ON FRIDAY 7th APRIL 2023 COLOSSEUM WILL BE CLOSED

 

From Wednesday 29 March to Saturday 8 April included the access to the monuments directly facing the Colosseum square will undergo some changes to allow the necessary works for the filming of the Way of the Cross, celebrated by Pope Francis in the evening of Friday 7 April.

The following will be temporarily closed

  • the terrace of the Temple of Venus and Roma from Wednesday 29 March to Saturday 8 April
  • the Baths of Elagabalus from Thursday 30 March to Saturday 8 April

The cell of the Temple of Venus and Roma facing the Capitol will remain open. It will be accessed from the Museum of the Roman Forum located in the Santa Maria Nova complex.

 

TICKETS

The validity of the tickets on 6 April including the visit to the Colosseum will be extended by 24 hours.

On the morning of 7 April it will be possible to visit the Roman Forum-Palatine area with a Forum Pass Super ticket bought on the same day or with another valid ticket.
The area will be closed to the public at 1 pm, last admission at 12 pm.

 

The Way of the Cross will be broadcast worldwide by Rai Uno from 9 p.m. on the 7 of April.
