Rome meets Milan
On Tuesday the 2nd and Wednesday the 3rd of July the Basilica of Maxentius is hosting a rich and exciting exhibition featuring Jonathan Lethem, New York novelist and essayist, considered one of the most significant voices in the current American cultural scene, and Michael Cunningham, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of the novel “The Hours”, developed into a film by Stephen Daldry starring Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman and Julianne Moore. The two exceptional evenings will be accompanied by the musical stylings of Ramin Barhami, Iranian composer and pianist of international fame who has always maintained a strong relationship with Italy. The Italian writers Elena Stancanelli and Carmen Pellegrino and actors Massimo Quinto Foschi and Marco Foschi will open each night with readings from Titus Lucretius Carus’ “De Rerum Natura” in its new translation by author Roberto Herlitzka. All of the two evenings’ protagonists will help create a unique and original event, the concrete product of the dialogue that is possible between the various arts.
The two evenings are promoted by the Parco archeologico del Colosseo with La Milanesiana, Milanese cultural exhibition made possible by the creativity of Elisabetta Sgarbi, in creative continuity with the Festival Internazionale Letterario di Massenzio
