On the evening of 14 November, starting at 21:00, the Colosseum is opening its doors and inviting the public to relive its nearly 2,000 years of history all in one night.

A journey through time and through the space of the iconic monument from its inauguration by the emperor Titus in 80 AD, to its medieval transformation into a fortress, up to its abandonment and isolation from the rest of the city, all of which led to the rumors, legends and superstitions of which we can still find evidence in the markings scratched into its travertine pilasters. And then again, the Colosseum as architectural model for the great Humanists of the 1400’s, stone quarry for new building projects and place of worship by order of the Church.

A moonlit stroll during which we’ll respond to viewers’ comments and curiosities in real time!
