Two worksites that look onto the piazza surrounding the largest amphitheater in the world watch over each other as well: ancient record-holders in their own right, the triumphal arch of Constantine stands not far from ancient Rome’s largest temple, the Temple of Venus and Roma, erected by Hadrian and widely restored by Constantine’s rival Maxentius.

The temple has been undergoing restoration for the past few months now, made possible by the technical sponsorship of Fendi. Starting on Wednesday, 17 March, the specialists directly involved in its restoration will tell us all about the project, giving us an in-depth look at the sponsorship with the roman fashion house, the history of the temple designed by the philhellene emperor, the restoration of its coffered vaults, and a new valorization plan that will bring down the barriers currently barring direct access to the monument and therefore make the temple part of an expanded visitor itinerary that will give a more complete experience of the site.

Until that day comes, we’d like to suggest a virtual visit through the “point cloud” that provides a 3D representation of the entire complex, with the two counterpoised cells of Venus and Roma.
